Days between dates

Count the days, weeks and weekdays between two dates, or find the date a number of days from now.

Calculation

Choose two dates.

How it works

Counting days between dates

The calculator counts calendar days from the start date to the end date, taking leap years and the different lengths of months into account. It also splits the period into weeks, and into years, months and days, and counts the weekdays (Monday to Friday) in it.

Example: from 1 January to 1 March 2024 is 60 days, because February 2024 had 29 days. In 2023 the same dates were 59 days apart.

Common uses

  • Deadlines and notice periods: what date is 30 or 90 days from today?
  • Project planning: how many weekdays are left until a launch?
  • Travel and events: how long is the trip, how many days until it starts?
  • Contracts and subscriptions: when does a 12-month term end?

To work out someone’s exact age, use the age calculator.

Frequently asked questions

Does the count include the end date?

Not by default: from Monday to Friday is 4 days. Tick "Include the end date" to count both the first and the last day, as you would for the length of a holiday or a hotel stay with checkout included.

Are public holidays excluded from the weekdays?

No. Weekdays are Monday to Friday, and public holidays differ by country and region. Subtract the holidays that apply to you to get the number of working days.

What happens when I add a month to 31 January?

There is no 31 February, so the result is the last day of February: 28 February, or 29 February in a leap year. Adding days or weeks never has this problem.

How many days are there in a year?

365, or 366 in a leap year. A year is a leap year if it is divisible by 4, except years divisible by 100 that are not also divisible by 400. So 2000 and 2024 were leap years, but 1900 was not.
